What's New?

1 July  2004:  A new film by Duraid Lahham

Duraid Lahham has recently finished the script for his new movie al-Abaa al-Sighar (The Young Father). The film is based in modern Damascus, starring Lahham as an honest and uncorrupted police officer, who is married to a hard-working hotel clerk and has four little children. To improve their income, he works part-time as a taxi driver, and enrolls in university to obtain a degree in law, hoping that it would raise his salary as a police officer. His wife dies young, due to illness, and Lahham is forced to drop out of university to make ends meet for his family. His children, in funny and mischievous ways, start to work part-time to help him raise money, and end up renting a room in their house to a visitor from Egypt.

Lahham has continued his by now four-year career as a television host on MBC with the weekly program Duraid Haza al-Masa' (Duraid this Evening). Again, he hosts leading actors, actresses, and celebrities from the Arab World, debating love, work, politics, and social affairs.
